This protraction movement stretches the muscles involved in the retraction of the foreleg.

It also affects the muscles of the shoulder, the trapezius, the latissimus dorsi, the serratus thoracis muscle and the deltoid and triceps muscle. This movement also deepens the flexor tendon and suspensory ligament stretch. It should only be done by a professional, as it requires skill.
